to solve these problems we have designed an improved msi to be used with visual studio 6. this msi will perform the following tasks:

create a configuration section for each variant of the msdn library. for instance:
- cd1 for all packages without “copy of msdn” fields.
- cd2 for all packages with “copy of msdn” fields.
p.s. i found also that there is a very strange problem with the msdn library. everytime you click on the “get help” button from the help window, it will launch the new “help for visual studio 6.0” msdn search engine. thus, unless you turn this feature off, you will always see the results from the last search you did from the “help” window. this is quite a problem, in fact. i think it’s because the search engine is still somehow “attached” to the help window, but i’m not sure. to solve this, i would have to totally redesign the way the help is delivered.

visual studio 6 is still a very popular ide. now, microsoft is not publishing the vb6 manual any more. however, visual studio 6 is still actively supported, so you may still download the vb6 manual from .
