the best way to deal with this problem is to exclude the user profile folder from the list of synchronized folders in the rds collection settings. thus, the changes made by the user during the terminal session will not be saved into the vhdx disk on the shared folder.

create a new folder in the dvd drive. the folder should be named “vhdx-disk1”.
copy the four files from disc 1 onto the new folder and rename the iso file to mfs disk 1.
if you want to use mfs disk 1 for more than one fsx installation just copy and paste the files from that folder onto a new folder and create an iso.
open the file mfs disk 1.iso in nero or the free iso creator.

in the network > user profiles folder create a new folder for each user. for example, use the name “user 1” and “user 2”.
copy the four files from mfs disk 1 into the two folders of the same name.

create an iso out of the two folders, name it mfs disk 1.iso.
mount the mfs disk 1.iso in the two folders, right click on the user profile disks and select “mount” and choose the disk you created before.

to mount the vhdx disks, you need to find the vhdx disk that was created for the vm. to find out the name of the vhdx disk, you need to run the following command in the azure ad tenant that was used to deploy the vms:
* user profile disks (upd): the upds can be created in windows server 2012 and later versions to store a user profile. the user profile is stored in a vhdx disk. the user profile disk is mounted to the user session as soon as the user signs in to the rds server, and unmounted when he logs out (all changes to the user profile are saved to the vhdx disk).
