AutoCAD is a 3D CAD design tool, along with the companion program AutoCAD LT. It provides a parametric 3D solid modeling environment with graphical editing capabilities, and the capability to convert a 2D drawing into a 3D model. AutoCAD LT (formerly AutoCAD Design) was introduced in 2005 as an alternative to the previous software release, AutoCAD 2000. AutoCAD LT is an inexpensive, 2D drafting software tool aimed at the small- to medium-sized user.

AutoCAD is available for purchase as a perpetual license, a subscription model, or on a per-seat basis for a subscription model. There are some free (Public domain) tools and videos on the Autodesk website, but they are not extensive. AutoCAD (and AutoCAD LT) are priced to match competitors’ products with comparable tools such as MicroStation, 3ds Max, Solidworks, and CATIA.

Key features

The core features of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT are as follows:

3D solid modeling, parametric 3D modeling, 2D drafting, creating a base drawing or inserting components, 2D sketching, 2D drafting, paper design, and dimensioning.

Engineering drawing

AutoCAD has the ability to import and export 3D object and surface models and 2D drafting and engineering drawings. A feature called Dynamic Document enables AutoCAD to automatically recognize the type of drawing and place it within the appropriate viewport, with an intelligent context-sensitive display. Within the Dynamic Document viewport, various features are available to present the drawing.

As of 2016, the AutoCAD product line offered features for engineering, architectural, and construction engineering drawing. AutoCAD products are marketed with the term Autodesk in reference to the company’s CAD products, as with the term Autodesk Revit in reference to its 3D BIM products.

AutoCAD has the capability of animating objects and parts in the drawing, such as a line moving or a series of points moving.

The drawing may be animating when the pointer is positioned over a specific feature on the drawing such as a line, curve, polyline, arc, circle, circle arc, or spline. To make the drawing animate, select the drawing tool appropriate for the feature to animate, and then drag the mouse to select the drawing feature. To animate a feature without using the drawing tool, select the feature and then press and release the spacebar. To animate a drawing, either select and animate a single feature, or select several features and drag to animate them.

Animate drawing features in AutoCAD with ease. Either select the drawing feature to animate or press and release the spacebar. Animate multiple drawing features by selecting the desired feature in the main drawing window and then selecting all the features in the main drawing window. The next feature to animate can then be selected, and the process repeats.

To save the animation to an image file, select the feature and press and release the spacebar. In the Image Save Window, select Animation Save File and then select the animation to save.

Autodesk has also introduced the ability to animate the placement of features in the main drawing window. This feature can animate a feature to move to a specific location and/or rotate to the specified direction and angle.

For example, the feature A can move in the x direction, y direction, or rotate in the z direction.

The feature A can move in the x direction by dragging the mouse. The feature can move in the y direction by pressing Shift+Mouse Drag or the “+-” key. The feature can rotate in the z

What’s New In AutoCAD?

Basic Edit:

An updated command line has been added to the software. A new flag, ‘rcopy’ has been added to existing commands to enable the copying of selected objects with new tags.

‘Edit’ Tab:

A new ‘Edit’ tab is available in the Ribbon. It gives the user quick access to existing commands for taking measurements and calculations and includes the ability to check dimensions of drawings.

New drawing tools:

The Command Line was revamped with a revamped user interface and a new menu bar. This makes it easier to navigate to the commands you need. An edit tool was also added to the Command Line so drawings can be edited without needing to use the graphic tools. An info tool was also added.

The Reference Guide was updated to use the Help Framework.

The Designer View was updated with a new look and new features. The drawing canvas was moved to the left side and a new location for most controls is visible.

A ‘Do Not Align’ option has been added to Dimensions to prevent alignment of lines or parts.

Motive and Internet:

The AutoCAD Motive for creating CAD files has been completely revamped with new features to match the new look of the Windows UI. This includes updating the command line with the ‘rcopy’ flag. An updated information panel has been added and the ‘impexport’ option to automatically include comments in the import file has been updated. A new range finder has been added to search through the files and a new internet connection to browse content from around the web has been added.

The Keyboard Shortcut system was updated to include shortcuts for most existing functions and a new command to quickly switch between current axis and default. A ‘Lock to Object’ and ‘Lock to Axis’ options have been added to Dimension and Reference tools.

New commands:

‘idelete’ is a new command to remove all the parts of a selected line, polyline or arc in one click.

‘recr’ is a new command to highlight the region of an object as you move the cursor.

‘adddisc’ is a new command to quickly add existing shapes as a copy of the original.

‘inpy’ is a new command to open a document in
