Adjustment layers: These layers can be added to your image to create specific adjustments. A few notable adjustment layers include Levels, Curves, Smart Sharpen, Vibrance, Shadows/Highlights, and Clarity.

Can you use Photoshop Elements to edit web images?

Yes, you can use Photoshop Elements to edit images on the web. You’ll need to download and install the “web” version of Photoshop Elements, instead of the standard desktop version. Once you have installed it, you’ll be able to open Photoshop Elements web images, edit them, and save them for use on a website.

Before you can edit web images, you first need to prepare them.

My Second Year of Blogging

A year has passed since I had my first blog. It’s been a year of constant growth for me in many areas of my life. Thank you so much to all of you who have visited and emailed me to say they’ve read or are reading. It’s still a work in progress with a lot of changes ahead for me, but I’m happy with how far I’ve come with posting new tutorials.

Birthday. I had a wonderful time celebrating my 50th birthday. I did something that I have always wanted to do – a scrapbook party. This was my first time with all my friends from college, so it was so much fun! Unfortunately, I couldn’t stop eating and drinking. That’s my new philosophy for life – don’t overdo it and overindulge because of your 40th birthday. On the contrary, sip it because it’s the reason for celebrating in the first place.

I received two copies of the book Crafting a Scrapbook Album in my birthday package. I was excited to start reading because I’ve been thinking about creating my own book for sometime now. I’m making good progress on it and love my new book. I thought I had the perfect title for it, but my sister and I have been calling it “An A-Z Scrapbook” for some time now.

And lastly, I want to show you some of the things I’ve been working on since my birthday. I started a blog tour for the guest designer in which I participated. Yay! I had a wonderful time visiting other blogs and receiving many comments. I also had lots of help from my sister in typing my guest designer post for her blog, and I also put together some “test” images to be included in my blog tour.

I wish you all a wonderful week, and may the next year bring even more wonderful things.

Arduino: Is there a way to access the IDE’s serial console from my sketch?

I have a breadboard and would like to be able to run the Arduino IDE’s serial console from my sketch to have an alternative to typing in all my code. Is there a way to do this?
I’ve tried reading the Arduino examples. However, they only seem to allow you to read incoming serial data from the Arduino – not from inside the IDE.
So far, I haven’t found an example showing how to read and display incoming serial data in the IDE.


As @johnjohn81 mentioned in the comments, the Serial.print function is the right way.
However, the IDE also gives you the ability to open a serial monitor and look at what is being printed out via the Serial Monitor feature (Tools > Serial Monitor > Port: ). You can write out to the serial monitor from your sketch as well.


If you’re using an UNO-style board, you can access the serial port by connecting a null-modem cable from the UNO to another serial port.
If you’re using one of the bigger boards (Mega/Mega 2560), or if you’re using an Arduino Nano-style board, you cannot access the serial port from your sketch. You will need to access the serial port using the UNO-style setup, and write/read from it from your sketch.
